The world appears to be in a chaotic state right now. Gas prices are higher then ever before. The stock market had its biggest drop ever recently. Banks are going out of business. Peoples' homes are being foreclosed on in a rapid rate. The presidential election is a crazy one again this time around.
People are glued to their televisions to see what is going to happen next. So I wonder. Are you scared? Are you worried about what the future holds? Worried about finances and the stocks? Well, you would have reason to be. If...you were not a Christian.
So what does the Bible have to say about all this? Do not worry. Jesus said in Matthew 6:25 "do not worry about your life" and Matthew 6:27 "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
But you already know that I'm sure. My question is, are you showing it to those around you? We as Christians are called to "let your light shine before men". In this economic hiccup, now more then ever let your light shine.
The Pastors of growing churches seem to always be positive, upbeat, fun to be around and talk to, very likable and easy to approach. Pastors of growing churches don't focus on the negative but instead focus on the positive.
Don't forget, the non believers judge us more then we judge ourselves. "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" is what Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 That still rings true today...even in this economic hiccup.
If the non believer sees that you are calm before the storm, they will wonder why. A great opening to a discussion about Jesus I would say.
Growing churches are not focused on all the deeds they do or how many cards they mail out. Growing churches are focused on Jesus.
Refocus Your attitude and energy on Jesus and people will notice. And your church will grow. Don't forget, Peter walked on water...when he focused on Jesus.
